If you desire to make a difference in your work and in the life of others, it
will require some special efforts on your part. It all begins with attitude ... attitude is a choice. It indelibly effect everything you do
in work and in life. The following are some of the most important keys that will
positively impact you, your present and especially your future.
Choose Your Attitude
Having the right attitude is possibly the single most important factor in your
happiness and success. You choose your attitude, how you will respond, how
others see you and you see them. Learn to be content with what you have and who
you are, but also never stop growing and improving . . . that begins with
attitude.
Be Passionate
Far too many people show up and just go through the motions. Who you
are and what you do today is the foundation for where you will be tomorrow.
Focus on pouring your best into what you do today and you’ll reap even greater
rewards tomorrows. "One of the greatest stimulants for your imagination is
an emotional involvement with your task. You’ve got to love whatever it is you

Be Interested
Take a genuine interest in other people, what they say, what they need,
where they are going, how they got there . . . then ask yourself how you can
help them accomplish more. Make it a priority to learn from others and apply
their ideas to your own growth. "You can make more friends in two months by
becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get
people interested in you." -- Dale Carnegie
Be Determined
This is your life . . . be determined to put your best into everything
you do. Be determined to set your sights on excellence and let no one dissuade
you from your goal. Stay focused, stay on task and you will succeed. Sir
Winston Churchill gave this impassioned speech to a graduating
class, "Never, never, never give up!" and sat down.
Get Involved
Be a team player, not a spectator . . . the team needs your contribution more
than it does your negativity. Anyone can criticize, be cynical and find fault,
but the one who pitches in and helps the rest of the team succeed gains the
respect of others.
Accept Responsibility
Excuses and blaming others robs us of our accomplishments. We all fail. In fact,
the greatest successes usually fail the most. Take ownership for your actions,
don't care who gets the credit: be solution-focused, not problem-oriented.
Become an Encourager
Seek out ways to build up someone else and make them feel valued and
important. Make it your goal to try and genuinely compliment at least five
people per day . . . in fact, until you have met that goal, don't allow yourself
to criticize anyone else. This gesture alone will speak volumes of you and your
character.
Be Coachable
No one grows who has an unteachable spirit. All winners have coaches or mentors
they listen to who give them advise and direction on how to improve and
challenge themselves. Be pliable, willing to change, grow and develop yourself.
Be Goal Oriented
Goals are the rudder of your ship, you will go in whatever direction
your rudder (goals) point you. A goal is simply a plan to
achieve your dream. Every successful person has goals which solidify their plans
and help accomplish their dreams. "The price of success is considerably
less than the cost of failure." -- Zig Ziglar
Remember to Play!
Life is exciting and is meant to be enjoyed. Within your work and relationships,
add a dose of fun and don't be afraid to play along the way. We all need a
release valve . . . laughter, play and letting go are some of the best ways to
reduce stress.
Most people in life tend to be average. They often do
"just what it takes to get by" and very little else. Yet they wonder
why they don't get the promotions and opportunities to move ahead. These are
some simple ideas that can make a profound difference in you and associates that
surround you. Remember, don't let anyone . . . especially yourself hold you
back.
